I want to go outside and look for bugs but 1) it is not bug season and 2) there are spiders everywhere in my home for those with eyes to see.

Anyway, a few weeks ago while I was checking out at the grocery store, this old man complimented my baggu with an elephant pattern on it. He said, “I feel bad for them, y’know. Sorry, I like them a lot so I love your bag. It says something, shows that you care.”

I said, “Aw, that is so sweet!”

He goes, “Sorry, anyway, I love megafauna.”

I, by the way, blazed and randomly not wanting to be exclusionary, said, “Yeah, y’know all kinds of life, microfauna too.” Because I was thinking about bugs and how recent my appreciation for them was. The old man said, “Well, I don’t know if I care that much about bacteria, haha.” And then I laughed and walked out. Bro, of course microfauna are, like, bacteria and protozoa. Maybe that makes bugs midfauna.
