Book Review: Sister, Maiden, Monster
I can’t stop thinking about this book.
I loved the balls to the wall body horror. The hundreds of little teeth in Erin’s tongue, the insane way that this disease spreads, the increasingly dreaded feeling that nothing you or anyone does will change anything. I loved reading about Erin and Betty, their insane toxic yuri ass relationship. Even toward the end when they were transformed and having crazy angel sex through Mareva’s eyes, I felt endeared.
My least favorite story was Savannah’s. I just don’t like her very much, she’s kind of corny. But I do like her as a character though, the commitment to the bit.
One of the scariest things was Mareva’s whole story. Also the vision of her future where she’s just one giant limbless blob birthing multitudes of creatures to populate the new world and becoming deified with each new set of progeny.
I was most confused about the man ? dude ? person ? she encountered who gave her a ring that allowed her to escape that fate. It made me want to learn more but I was also happy for the story that this was and how fast paced and visceral it was.
Horror ! Cosmic, body horror ! I love ! I’m so glad I randomly picked this up and I hope to read more stories like this one.
